Luminous Witches (and by extension Strike Witches) fans, rejoice! For after numerous delays, the Music Squadron finally has its long-awaited debut date!
LNAF Aviation Magic Band Ready to Take Off at Long Last!
Anime News Network has just announced the premiere date for Luminous Witches. It seems that after so many delays, we will finally get to see the Music Squadron in action on July 3, 2022. On that date, this anime will make its premiere at 9:00 PM (EDT) on the AT-X channel in Japan, along with numerous other Japanese TV channels and streaming services.
Unfortunately, we don’t have solid confirmation if any NA streaming services will simulcast Luminous Witches yet. I suspect that Crunchyroll will pick up this anime on July 3, and thus lock it behind the new paywall they seem insistent on getting people to pay for. However, even this isn’t a certain thing. Check back later for more news about this Strike Witches spinoff anime as we get it.
Luminous Witches: Details
Luminous Witches will be the latest anime series of the Strike Witches WWII military science fantasy media franchise by Fumikane Shimada. Rather than being part of the main anime series proper though, this will be a spinoff anime taking place at roughly the same timeframe, but having nothing to do with the main characters of the main anime series otherwise. SHAFT (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Nisekoi, March Comes In Like a Lion) is the animation studio behind the anime. Shouji Saeki is directing and writing for it, with Mitsutoshi Kubota producing.
As for what Luminous Witches is about? Well, Crunchyroll actually gave a synopsis that further explains this Strike Witches spinoff anime. Check it out below:
“The story of Luminous Witches focuses on the LNAF Aviation Magic Band Luminous Witches, a group of witches that – rather than fighting the Νέυροι directly – instead protect people’s smiles and inspire their hearts and minds with music and song.”
Hopefully, the fact that Crunchyroll is reporting on Luminous Witches means that they plan to simulcast it on July 3. Heck, maybe they’ll even offer the first 3 episodes for free as another “seasonal sampler”? You might want to take that with a grain of salt though until we get actual confirmation from Crunchyroll that they’re going to simulcast this anime.
