Ray Liotta has died at 67.
The actor was best known for his role as Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese’s mob movie Goodfellas. Deadline reports Liotta died in his sleep in the Dominican Republic. He was there shooting the upcoming feature Dangerous Waters.
Liotta first turned heads in the Jonathan Demme-directed Something Wild, which landed him a Golden Globe nomination. He went on to play Chicago’s Shoeless Joe Jackson in Field of Dreams. This led into his time as a gangster in Goodfellas opposite Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci. In 2005, Liotta landed an Emmy Award for his guest role on ER.
Though best known for his 1990 role in Goodfellas, Liotta’s career had a recent resurgence. He appeared in the Sopranos prequel The Many Saints of Newark, as well as Marriage Story. He also starred opposite Taron Egerton in the Apple TV+ series Black Bird.
Liotta leaves behind a daughter, Karsen, and his fiance Jacy Nittolo.
