Finally! Disney+ has announced the film official airdate of the Off-Broadway show, Trevor: The Musical! The new musical will make its exclusive debut on Friday, June 24, 2022!

WHAT IS TREVOR: THE MUSICAL?

Trevor: The Musical follows an adorable 13-year-old boy on his wild journey of self-discovery. However, after an embarrassing moment at school, Trevor has to muster up the courage and forge his own path. 

The musical is based on the Academy Award Winning short film, Trevor. The short was directed by Peggy Rajski, produced by Randy Stone, and written by Celeste Lecesne. This short inspired the nonprofit organization, The Trevor Project. This organization is the world’s largest suicide prevention and mental health organization for LGBTQ+ youth.

Finding the lead for the musical was no easy task. But, after a national casting call with over 1300 submissions, taking on the leading role of Trevor is 13-year-old Holden William Hagelberger from Sugarland, Texas. Along with Holden will be a 19 member company that features Mark Aguirre, Aaron Alcaraz, Ava Briglia, Sammy Dell, Tyler Joseph Gay, Ellie Kim, Colin Konstanty, Brigg Liberman, Diego Lucano, Alyssa Emily Marvin, Isabel Medina, Echo Deva Picone, Dan Rosales, Aryan Simhadri, Yasmeen Sulieman, Sally Wilfert, Aeriel Williams, and Jarrod Zimmerman. 

The off-broadway version of the musical features a book and lyrics by Dan Collins (“Southern Comfort”). The music is by Julianne Wick Davis (“Southern Comfort”). The direction is by Marc Bruni (“Beautiful: The Carole King Musical”). With the choreography by Josh Prince (“Beautiful: The Carole King Musical”). 

The filmed version of the musical is directed by Robin Mishkin Abrams (Spring Awakening: Those You’ve Known). Filming was produced by RadicalMedia with Jon Kamen, Dave Sirulnick, Meredith Bennett, and Jonathan Meyers serving as executive producers.
