You can really tell that Toei Animation really wants to build up the hype for One Piece Film: Red. Why else would they arrange a performance by the legendary Steve Aoki to amp up that hype at Anime Expo?
Straw Hats, Rock Out!
Toei Animation Inc., in collaboration with the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (SPJA), the non-profit organization behind Anime Expo, announced that to promote the impending release of One Piece Film: Red, they will have an exclusive performance at Anime Expo by none other than the 2-time GRAMMY-nominated artist Steve Aoki (Wonderland, Neon Future I, Steve Aoki Presents Kolony). Aoki himself, in fact, has something to say about this:
“I have been a huge fan of Toei Animation from as early as I can remember. One Piece holds a special place in my heart because I have always been impressed by the resilience and determination of Luffy. His happy-go-lucky demeanor in the face of adversity inspired me in many ways. Having this opportunity to join forces with Toei Animation to commemorate their upcoming ‘One Piece Film Red’ is an immense honor. Not only am I performing during Anime Expo, but my brand Dim Mak is also releasing a merch collab at the same time.”
This concert to promote One Piece Film: Red will take place on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at The Novo in L.A. Live. You can watch this concert only at Anime Expo 2022. You can register for an Anime Expo badge here. However, even with a badge, you still need to purchase tickets to attend the concert. You can pre-purchase the tickets at ShowClix. Note that the price of the tickets varies depending on seating. The pricing ranges from $30 for GA balcony seats, all the way up to $90 for VIP pit seats. Oh, and tickets are of “extremely limited” quantity. If you want to attend this concert, you’d better hurry and pre-purchase these tickets before they run out on you.
One Piece Film: Red ~ Details
One Piece Film: Red is the latest anime film of the One Piece anime, which is the anime adaptation of the hit manga of the same name by Eiichiro Oda. In fact, Eiichiro Oda himself serves as a producer for this anime film, and has apparently actively participated the most out of all of the anime films. Gorō Taniguchi (Planetes, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Estab Life: Great Escape) is the director of this anime film, with a screenplay by Tsutomu Kuroiwa.
As for what One Piece Film: Red is about? Well, One Piece’s YouTube channel for the trailer above has a synopsis for it in the video description. Check it out below:
“Uta — the most beloved singer in the world. Her voice, which she sings with while concealing her true identity, has been described as “otherworldly.” She will appear in public for the first time at a live concert. As the venue fills with all kinds of Uta fans — excited pirates, the Navy watching closely, and the Straw Hats led by Luffy who simply came to enjoy her sonorous performance — the voice that the whole world has been waiting for is about to resound. The story begins with the shocking fact that she is “Shanks’ daughter.””
