Murder mystery meets reality competition in this new series coming to Peacock. The streamer will officially host the US version of The Traitors, a successful Dutch reality program.

Described as “a nail-biting psychological adventure,” The Traitors will see 20 contestants come together at a remote castle in the Scottish Highlands. There, they will compete in a series of challenges in the hopes of winning up to $250,000 cash.

The catch? A number of the contestants coined “The Traitors” will meet in secret to devise a plan to eliminate their fellow players (“The Faithful.”) The Faithful must figure out who is a Traitor and vote them out so they can take the prize money for themselves. If a Traitor makes it to the end, they could take home the cash prize.

Tying the series together will be five-time Emmy nominee Alan Cumming. Cumming will serve as the show’s host.

“We can’t think of a better person to serve as puppet master of this series than Alan Cumming,” said Jenny Groom, EVP of Unscripted Content at Peacock. “His wit and eccentricity will add the perfect layer of comedy to this thrilling world of high stakes deception.”

Studio Lambert Scotland, part of All3Media Group, will produce The Traitors.

“In a game of secrecy, suspicion and plot twists, who better to take the helm and guide our game players through the drama and challenging missions than our very own Scot, Alan Cumming,” said Stephen Lambert, CEO of Studio Lambert.

Peacock ordered 10 episodes of the series, which will enter production soon. The series will announce contestants at a later date, so check back to THS for more updates.
