From a TV reboot in the early 2010s to now, Beverly Hills Cop 4 has been long-gestating. Now, the Netflix movie starring Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley has found a director. According to Deadline, Mark Molloy replaces Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who left the project to work on DC’s Batgirl. Jerry Bruckheimer is on board to produce the film.
Beverly Hills Cop 4 is still in development and there is no production date set. Netflix grabbed the franchise from Paramount in 2019. The first film is one of the best action-comedy movies ever and launched Eddie Murphy into the stratosphere of popularity. There were two sequels and then the TV reboot that didn’t get off the ground.
The film would be Molloy’s feature directorial debut, but he’s known for his commercial work, particularly with Apple. We’ll keep you updated as this story and movie develops.
