Russian Doll returns soon, and this blast from the past will throw fans even further back in time via… subway train?
A new trailer for season 2 of the Netflix series shows Nadia (Natasha Lyonne) waiting to grab a typical NYC train. But when she boards, things are looking a little… 80’s?
A few years after her brush with repeated death-by-time-loop, Nadia finds herself once again trapped by time. But things are a little different this go-round.
“The universe finally found something worse than death,” Nadia says. “I broke time.”
And you thought your commute was wild…
Check out the new trailer for Russian Doll season 2 below.
Set four years after Nadia (Lyonne) and Alan (Charlie Barnett) escaped mortality’s time loop together, season two of RUSSIAN DOLL will continue to explore existential thematics through an often humorous and sci-fi lens. Discovering a fate even worse than endless death, this season finds Nadia and Alan delving deeper into their pasts through an unexpected time portal located in one of Manhattan’s most notorious locations, the New York City subway. At first they experience this as an ever-expanding, era-spanning, intergenerational adventure, but they soon discover this extraordinary event might be more than they bargained for and, together, must search for a way out.
“You’re a time traveler,” someone tells Nadia.
“I prefer the term ‘time prisoner,'” she quips in response.
The Emmy Award-winning series returns with Lyonne serving as showrunner and executive producer. Alex Buono, Amy Poehler, Leslye Headland, Lilly Burns, Tony Hernandez, Dave Becky, Kate Arend, Regina Corrado, and Allison Silverman also executive produce.
Russian Doll season 2 premieres April 20. You can stream all of season 1 now on Netflix.
