The Canadian shredders Striker have a new single out, “Strange Love”, ahead of their North American tour with Beast In Black. Before the tour officially kicks off in Orlando, Florida on April 7th, take a listen to the new single.
The band’s new lineup sees the addition of John Simon Fallon as a guitarist. “Strange Love” is their first new music in 2022. 2021 saw the release of the single “Deathwish”, which you can listen to here. The band is currently writing a follow-up to their excellent album Play To Win. Here’s what singer Dan Cleary had to say about the new single.
When we wrote Strange Love we were dabbling in the dark arts of funk, and although it really doesn’t sound like it we drew big inspiration from bands like Extreme and Faith No More. It was a bit of a detour on our metal journey, but it was a lot of fun to record. We have one more song to release from that recording session too, which leans even further into that style so keep an eye out for that!
I know for sure that if they’re dabbling in some other styles like Extreme and Faith No More, this new album should be spectacular. Striker has been around since 2007 and combines old-school heavy metal stylings with the New Wave Of American Heavy Metal bands. They’ve released six studio albums so far, and their newest one should be coming sometime soon.
