Rejoice, Tekken fans! For it’s finally going to get an anime series, courtesy of Netflix. It’s even a full-length anime series, not like the 2-episode OVA back in 1998. Don’t believe me? Well, then check out the teaser from Netflix below:
The New and Improved Revenge of Jin Kazama?
Netflix officially announces Tekken: Bloodline with their new official teaser on YouTube. This new teaser also reveals that Jin Kazama will be the main character of this new anime. That alone tells us a bit about the overall tone of this new anime, even though we haven’t seen it yet. To put it simply: Jin is an antihero type of character. He fights solely to get revenge for his mother: Jun Kazama, who we see in the teaser being attacked by Ogre. In the games’ timeline (specifically Tekken 3), she disappeared after the attack and presumably died, which sets off his entire story arc.
Thus, we can probably expect a pretty dark anime out of Tekken: Bloodline. Is if closely follows the events of Tekken 3, then it will get pretty dark indeed. Basically: imagine Jin going full one-winged angel to avenge his mom. It’s not going to be pretty in that case. This is just speculation for now though. Take it with a grain of salt until we see the actual anime. Which may or may not be for a while.
Tekken: Bloodline ~ Details
So far, we have very little official info available on Tekken: Bloodline. The only concrete piece of info we have so far is that it’s coming to Netflix, and it will launch sometime this year in 2022. Oh, and that poster above Netflix posted on Twitter. That’s about it unless you want to go into the official synopsis from Netflix right in the description of their official teaser. In which case, you can check it out below:
“”Power is everything.” Jin Kazama learned the family self-defense arts, Kazama-Style Traditional Martial Arts, from his mother at an early age. Even so, he was powerless when a monstrous evil suddenly appeared, destroying everything dear to him, changing his life forever. Angry at himself for being unable to stop it, Jin vowed revenge and sought absolute power to exact it. His quest will lead to the ultimate battle on a global stage — The King of Iron Fist Tournament.”
