I love having the chance to sit down and talk to fellow creatives about their upcoming and previous projects. This time around, I spoke with Sunita Deshpande about her upcoming film Moonshot from HBOMax. As well as, what it will take in order for her character Seema to return to the Daredevil world.

COMEDY TO DRAMA

Most people know Deshpande from her role in Daredevil as Seema Nadeem, wife of Ray Nadeem. However, you may not know that she has a huge comedy background which she finally gets to shine in Moonshot

Moonshot is an upcoming sci-fi rom-com starring Lana Condor (To All The Boys) and Cole Sprouse (Riverdale). The two live in a future where Mars is terraformed. So now, these two college students sneak onboard a space shuttle to Mars in order to be reunited with their significant others.

Sunita plays Celeste, one half of an LGBTQ+ couple living on Mars in the upcoming Rom-Com. Deshpande describes her as, “quite a grounded character. She’s kind of passive-aggressive – a lot passive-aggressive. And she is just very obsessed with her job, with science, and being the first to go to Mars.”

WHAT WOULD IT TAKE FOR HER TO RETURN TO DAREDEVIL?

As we know, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil has been deemed canon by Kevin Feig. As well as by his surprise appearance as Matt Murdock in Spiderman: No Way Home. Fans rejoiced at this news, but what does it mean for Sunita and her character of Seema? Would she return if given the opportunity? The answer is yes, but with a few characters demands.

“I would absolutely love to come back. [However,] there would be a couple rules for Seema. I would be very excited for her to have a high end wardrobe [and] to see her taking care of herself…She is a strong tigress of a character and she would definitely want to get revenge for what happened to her husband.”
