Fans of the Hyrkania warrior Red Sonja have been excited since 2017 when Millennium Pictures announced that they were making a new film featuring the heroine. While this film has been in the works for a while it seemed like things were heading in the right direction with Joel Soloway set to direct and co-write the film. On top of that, they also had their Red Sonja cast with Hannah John-Kamen. Well, now it looks as if neither of these two will be involved with the film.

Millennium Pictures Red Sonja has seemed to hit a few roadblocks before it was to start production later this year. According to an exclusive report from The Illuminerdi, not only will Joel Soloway not be directing the film anymore, it now seems as if Hannah John-Kamen will no longer be playing Red Sonja.

Unfortunately, things change. Sadly, our sources say that Hannah John-Kamen has fallen out from the film and the production team is looking to cast a new actress for the lead role of Red Sonja. Casting is open to anyone from anywhere, and ideally, she is 5′ 8″ or taller. But the most important aspect for the role is the ability to perform action sequences, as action is crucial to the role. The news is disheartening as John-Kamen’s action chops are top-tier and it would have been amazing to see her down fantastical villains and beasts. But it seems that it just didn’t work out.

As of now, this is all developing news and we will keep you updated as news breaks.
