Dune: Part Two is in the pre-production phase, but there’s news that an important character has already been cast. The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news that Florence Pugh was in talks for the role of Princess Irulan in the film. She’d be joining Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, and Javier Bardem in the sequel. Denis Villeneuve is still working on the script, and he’s also returning to direct the film.
According to their sources, the production is casting for three major roles including Emperor Shaddam IV, Princess Irulan, and Feyd-Rautha. Pugh is close to the role, but there are some things in the way including scheduling. The production is set for this summer, but things could change.
This news could very well change depending on various factors, so other actresses could be in line for the role if Pugh can’t take it. The first Dune grossed over $400 million worldwide. Warner Bros has a tentative date for Dune: Part Two‘s release on October 20th, 2023.
