We all already know how big the Dark Knight is for DC, and it showed this weekend at the Box Office for The Batman. Matt Reeves gave us a Batman story like no other and it paid off in a big way. Starring Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell, and Andy Serkis The Batman had the second-biggest opening weekend since the pandemic began. Spider-Man: No Way Home as of now holds the number one spot.
The Batman Kills It At The Box Office
Coming in at the biggest 2022 opening weekend to date, The Batman opened with $128.5 million domestically. But it just wasn’t a huge hit here in the U.S. the Dark Knight also hit big in the international box office as well, bringing in another $120 million dollars, as well. That’s right, The Batman globally brought in$248.5 million this opening weekend. These are numbers that Bruce Wayne would smile about.
Now, we also have to note that The Dark Knight did have a little advantage over its Warner Bros. counterparts. During the height of the pandemic in 2021, Warner Bros. released films like The Matrix Resurrections, The Suicide Squad, and others on HBO Max and the theaters on the same day. The Batman opened exclusively in theaters with its HBO Max release date coming at a later date, so viewers that want to see it now, have to catch it on the big screen.
