AMC just revealed another casting announcement for Interview with the Vampire.
The upcoming series based on Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles novels has added Assad Zaman to the cast. Zaman will play a character known as Rashid.
Zaman joins previously announced cast members including Sam Reid (Lestat), Jacob Anderson (Louis), and Bailey Bass (Claudia).
Based on Rice’s iconic and bestselling novel, Interview with the Vampire follows Louis de Pointe, Lestat De Lioncourt, and Claudia’s epic story of love, blood, and the perils of immortality. Award-winning producer Mark Johnson (Breaking Bad) executive produces the series. Christopher Rice serves as an executive producer as well, as did the late Anne Rice prior to her recent passing.
Acclaimed director Alan Taylor will direct the first two episodes. He also executive produces the series, which has been greenlit for a seven-episode first season at AMC.
Zaman’s previous television credits include Hotel Portofino, The Winter’s Tale, and Small Axe.
Interview with the Vampire represents just one upcoming project on AMC’s slate from the Rice library. The network purchased the adaptation rights to several properties for potential shows. A Mayfair Witches series, for instance, is also already in development.
Interview with the Vampire will premiere on AMC and AMC+ later this year.
