Mountain climbing isn’t for everyone.
In a new survival thriller starring Naomi Watts, one woman’s climb up Mount Washington is interrupted by a blizzard. But when she runs into a stranded climber on the way back down, she’s suddenly responsible for two lives instead of one.
Check out the trailer for Infinite Storm below.
The trailer showcases plenty of environmental thrills (or things to get stressed out about, depending on your perspective). From raging winds and freezing temperatures to falls through the ice, this one looks like it will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Infinite Storm is based on a true story about climber Pam Bales. The Bleecker Street film comes from writer Joshua Rollins. Rollins based the screenplay off of the Ty Gagne article describing Pam’s incredible story. Małgorzata Szumowska directs.
Here’s the official synopsis from Bleecker Street:
As an experienced climber (Naomi Watts) ascends Mt. Washington, she turns back before she reaches the summit as a huge blizzard approaches. But on her way down, she encounters a lone, stranded man, and takes it upon herself to get them both down the mountain before nightfall arrives and they succumb to the storm. Based on a true story.
In addition to Watts, the film stars Billy Howle as “John,” the stranded man Pam takes under her wing as she ventures back down the mountain. Howle previously appeared in Dunkirk and in Star Wars as Rey’s father. (He is not Game of Thrones’ Alfie Allen, as I initially thought in the trailer.)
The film also stars Denis O’Hare and Parker Sawyers.
Infinite Storm premieres in theaters March 25.
