It looks like the Netflix supernatural drama, Stranger Things, will conclude with Season 5.

The series co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer confirmed the news. This will certainly come as disappointing news for fans of the series. But it is a silver lining that the creators are able to announce the end and work towards a satisfying conclusion to the story. A luxury that not all series’ are able to enjoy. Keep reading for the official confirmation from the Duffer brothers on the end of Stranger Things.

CONFIRMATION FROM THE CO-CREATORS

Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things. At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four, but — as you’ll soon see for yourselves – we are now hurtling toward our finale. Season 4 will be the penultimate season; season 5 will be the last.

There are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things; new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes. But first we hope that you stay with us as we finish this tale of a powerful girl named Eleven and her brave friends, of a broken police chief and a ferocious mom, of a small town called Hawkins and an alternate dimension known only as the Upside Down. As always, we are grateful for your patience and support.

Stranger Things Season 4 Premiere Revealed

Season 4 of the series is set to debut in two volumes in 2022. Volume 1 will be released on May 27th with Volume 2 following up on July 1st. Beyond a teaser trailer and the reveal of the episode titles, details have been limited on the upcoming season. The last season of Stranger Things premiered back in 2019, leaving fans anxiously awaiting the last 3 years for the new season.

It’s also worth noting the wording in the announcement from the Duffer brothers. “Many more exciting stores to tell within in the world of Stranger Things“, appears to be carefully worded in such a way that potential spin-offs could be in the works.

Overall, it makes sense Netflix may want to end things with the current cast as production costs have continued to rise. Many of the cast members have seen their stock rise from the show and thus command higher salaries. If Netflix wishes to tell more stories within the world of Stranger Things, starting over with a new unknown cast can certainly reduce overall costs for the streamer.
