Prime Video is ready to bring the action this February. If you are not sure what I am talking about, Prime Video will be releasing an eight-episode series titled Reacher that is based on the first Jack Reacher novel, Killing Floor by Lee Child. Starring Alan Ritchson (Jack Reacher), Malcolm Goodwin (Oscar Finlay), Willa Fitzgerald (Roscoe Conklin), Bruce McGill (Gover Teale), and Chris Webster (KJ) Prime Video’s Reacher will debut on February 4th.
Reacher Synopsis
Reacher follows Jack Reacher, a veteran military police investigator who has just recently entered civilian life. Reacher is a drifter. Carrying no phone and the barest of essentials as he travels the country and explores the nation he once served. When Reacher arrives in the small town of Margrave, Georgia, he finds a community grappling with its first homicide in 20 years. The cops immediately arrest him and eyewitnesses claim to place Reacher at the scene of the crime. While he works to prove his innocence, a deep-seated conspiracy begins to emerge, one that will require Reacher’s keen mind and hard-hitting fists to deal with. One thing above all is for sure: They picked the wrong guy to take the fall.
Reacher Keeps You Wanting More
Going into this series I really was not sure what to expect. Well, after the first episode I was hooked. Writer Nick Santora did an amazing job keeping viewers on their toes. Just when you thought you had something figured out, you would get a Yankee-sized curve ball thrown at you. Taking place in a small town called Margrave, Jack Reacher finds himself on the wrong side of the law. Trying to prove his innocence you start to see the town may be small, but it definitely has some big-city problems.
With the police trying to figure out their first homicide in over two decades, you start to see the true colors of not only the townfolk but just about anyone that crosses Reacher’s path. As each episode goes on, you start to wonder about who can you trust as the body count keeps adding up. From action and romance to social issues and deceit this eight-part series has it all. Your emotions will be all over the place.
The Cast
Honestly, I don’t think you could put together a better cast for this series. Going into this my main concern was Blue Mountain State. If you are not sure what I am talking about then look it up on Prime Video. For those that do, all I have to say is Thad Castle. I was afraid that was all I would see when Alan Ritchson (Reacher) would appear. But Ritchson did an amazing job as Reacher and that thought did not cross my mind after the first Episode. But Ritchson wasn’t the only one that “kicked ass” in this series.
Malcolm Goodwin as Oscar Finlay and Willa Fitzgerald as Roscoe Conklin are perfect in these roles. Finlay who is well educated and is wound up as tight as a knot and Conklin who is not afraid to back down not only help make the series even better. But let’s not forget Bruce McGill (Gover Teale), Chris Webster (KJ), and the others that bring this story to life. There are some points during this series you just don’t know who to trust anymore, and that includes Reacher.
My Final Thoughts
I have purposely left a lot out of this review because I hate spoilers. What I will say about Reacher is that this series is a must-watch! If you like a good crime story with a lot, and I mean a lot of action Reacher is your show. Alan Ritchson knocked it out of the park, showing his range as an actor. With all the action and the, who can you trust factor each episode made me want more and more.
Really the only complaint I have about this series is some of the action scenes are a little too much. But again that also makes it fun to watch as well. Also if you are not good with blood and guts there are some scenes that might not sit too well with you. Even with these few things, you will want to do yourself a favor and watch Reacher. This series is definitely binge-worthy.
