It looks like the Spider-Man spinoff film, Madame Web, may start filming later this year. Reports from Charles Murphy indicate that progress on the development of the film has moved quicker than expected. Letting Sony move forwards with plans to film sooner rather than later. Though nothing has officially been confirmed, it looks like signs may be pointing to Madame Web to start filming in 2022.

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE ‘MADAME WEB’ FILM

The Madame Web film has been been in development for several years, but at this time the film has not been officially confirmed by Sony. As the movie has yet to even be confirmed, details on casting are as expected very light. One interesting rumor making the rounds has Sandra Bullock being considered for the role of Casandra Webb / Madame Web. Bullock did address those rumors last year and indicated her family would be thrilled with her appearing in a comic book film.

With the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home it’s no surprise that Sony will look to continue expanding their Spider-Verse films. Sony Executive, Sanford Pantich, has already indicated as much. Sony’s plans also include Tom Holland appearing as Spider-Man in films outside of the MCU.

“I think now maybe it’s getting a little more clear for people where we’re headed and I think when No Way Home comes out, even more will be revealed… The great thing is we have this very excellent relationship with Kevin. There’s an incredible sandbox there to play with. We want those MCU movies to be absolutely huge, because that’s great for us and our Marvel characters, and I think that’s the same thing on their side. But we have a great relationship. There’s lots of opportunities, I think, that are going to happen.”
