Exciting news today for fans of the 2019 murder mystery hit, Knives Out. Variety is reporting, Knives Out 2, the sequel to the Rian Johnson film, is targeting a release towards the end of the year. The film will debut both in theatres and on Netflix. Variety is also reporting that the film is expected to be featured at several film festivals, though no details on which ones are known at this time.
WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT ‘KNIVES OUT 2’
Production on the sequel completed in Fall of 2021, with Daniel Craig returning as Private Detective Benoit Blanc. Also returning is Rian Johnson who was the writer and director of the first Knives Out film.
Details on the plot have been kept under wraps. What we do know is Knives Out 2 will feature an impressive cast. Starring alongside Craig is several Hollywood A-listers. Kathryn Hahn, Ethan Hawke, Edward Norton, Kate Hudson, Jessica Henwick, Janelle Monáe, Leslie Odom Jr, Dave Bautista, and Madelyn Cline are all set to appear in the film. This continues the precedent set by the first film, which had a similarly impressive cast. Don Johnson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Evans, Michael Shannon, and Christopher Plummer all had roles in the first installment.

The first Knives Out was a critical and commercial success earning over $300 million. The film also earned Rian Johnson an Oscar and BAFTA nomination for best original screenplay. Based on the performance of the first film, it was not a surprise when Netflix announced their $450 million dollar purchase for the rights to the next two films.
