Big news out of the Grishaverse! Netflix’s Shadow and Bone just cast four key characters for season 2.

The fantasy series adapts Leigh Bardugo’s popular YA universe, as outlined in the Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows books. As with any popular book series that landed a screen adaptation, fans have been excited (and vocal) about seeing their favorite characters appear on the show. And while we still have to wait for season 2, at least we now know a bit more about what to expect.

Today, Netflix revealed the cast for warrior twins Tolya and Tamar from the Shadow and Bone trilogy, as well as Wylan and Nikolai from the Six of Crows duology.

Lewis Tan will play Tolya Yul-Bataar, a member of Alina’s Soldat Sol (team of personal guards). Tan recently appeared in the Mortal Kombat movie.

Anna Leong Brophy will play Tamar Kir-Bataar, also a member of Alina’s Soldat Sol. Brophy is known for her roles in Traces and Last Tango in Halifax

Patrick Gibson will play Nikolai Lantsov, a member of the Ravkan royal family. Gibson previously starred in the Netflix series The OA

Jack Wolfe will play Wylan Hendriks, a runaway who joins up with the Crows. Wolfe is also a Netflix fantasy alum, recently appearing in The Witcher

In addition to the four newly announced cast members, three from season 1 are getting promoted to series regular status. Expect to see more of Danielle Galligan (Nina), Daisy Head (Genya), and Calahan Skogman (Matthias) in season 2.

With the monstrous threat of the Shadow Fold looming, Alina is torn from everything she knows to train as part of an elite army of magical soldiers known as Grisha. But as she struggles to hone her power, she finds that allies and enemies can be one and the same and that nothing in this lavish world is what it seems.
