If you’re a Disney fan missing D23, we have some good news. After COVID cancelled the planned 2021 event, the convention is officially set to return this fall.
D23 2022 will run September 9 – 11 at the Anaheim Convention Center this year. And while the event may be months away, you’ll have the chance to grab your tickets very soon. They officially go on sale Thursday, January 20 at 12pm PST / 3pm EST.
If you’re a D23 Member and a Visa cardholder, you can grab your tickets even sooner. Visa, who’s presenting the Expo, will host a special exclusive presale January 19, starting at 10am PST / 1pm EST. (Again, you’ll need to be both a D23 Member and a Visa cardholder to take part in the pre-sale.)
What to expect at D23 Expo 2022
D23 Expo 2022 will feature more than 50 shows, presentations, and panels. And since the Disney extended umbrella now contains Lucasfilm and Marvel, you can expect news and updates from these fandoms too. The Expo also includes updates about Disney theme parks, music, and more.
The popular “Mousequerade” costume contest will return, hosted by Nina West and featuring a star-studded panel of judges including Yvette Nicole Brown (Big Shot, Disenchanted), Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka Tano and creator of Her Universe), and Ally Maki (Toy Story 4, Home Sweet Home Alone). The 2022 contest will feature new categories, including “Off the Screen,” “Imagine That!,” “Magical Mashups,” and “Cast of Characters.” And it wouldn’t be a contest without an audience-selected winner, and a grand prize of $2,300.
Plus, fans can check out an all-new exhibit highlighting the 100th anniversary of Disney, curated by the Walt Disney Archives. The Walt Disney’s Grumman Gulfstream I company airplane, currently housed at the Walt Disney World Resort backstage, will also be transported to Anaheim. It’s currently undergoing a restoration thanks to Expo sponsor Amazon.
Of course, D23 will also host a massive show floor full of immersive experiences, guest appearances, pop-up shops, and more.
This year’s Expo includes the 7,000 seat Hall D23; the 3,000 seat Premiere Stage; the 1,200 seat Backlot Stage, and an expanded, 700 seat Walt Disney Archives Stage.
