Television Series cancellations are coming out left and right! The next up on the chopping block is the Amazon Prime Video Series, I Know What You Did Last Summer!
The Shock and Awe of the I Know What You Did Last Summer Cancellation!
As you know, we here at THS and our sister channel Smells Like Teen Angst are huge fans of the series. As huge YA series fans, the Peacock series, One of Us is Lying is a huge letdown. But, I Know What you Did Last Summer is this fun, dark, twisted and feels fresh and exciting.
I Know What You Did Last Summer the series tells the story of identical twin sisters wild child Lennon and sweet girl Ally. As well as, their group of friends: Influencer Margot, awkward Dylan, drug dealer Riley, and Johnny the hot, gay friend. After graduation, the group heads to a mansion for a High School graduation party. After many drinks and lots of drugs, the sisters have a huge falling out. Eventually, they all pile into Lennon’s jeep and drive along the coastal highway and hit something…or someone – Ally (or at least that’s who they assume it to be).
The series had great use of flashbacks, over-the-top (in a good way) storytelling, as well as compelling characters. If anyone said that they know for a fact who the killer is they are lying. The twist and turns of the series kept you guessing the whole way through.
IS AMAZON DONE WITH YA?
Amazon Prime Video has been trying to break into the YA market for some time now. Their first foray was with the highly successful The Wilds which was renewed for a season 2. Even though I Know What You Did Last Summer is canceled, the streaming service remains committed to tackling the YA Genre. Coming soon we have the animated series, Fairfax. As well as, The Summer I Turned Pretty, a TV Series adaptation of the YA novel series from Jenny Han (To All The Boys I Loved Before).
