Every murder has a witness. Every neighbor has a window. And every psychological thriller from the last decade starring a woman has the same title format.
It’s time to add The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window to your watchlist.
The new dark comedy series from Netflix stars Kristen Bell, and plays as a satirical take on recent thrillers. In the show, Anna (Bell) looks out her window one day and sees her neighbor get brutally murdered. Yes, Anna was drunk at the time. And maybe hallucinating from some pills? But no, the murder was definitely real.
Right?

As you can see, the series clearly draws on the tropes of recent psychological thrillers like The Woman in the Window or The Girl on the Train. The spoof comes courtesy of Gloria Sanchez Productions, under executive producers Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, and Brittney Segal.
Here’s the full description of the series from Netflix:
For heartbroken Anna (Kristen Bell), every day is the same. She sits with her wine, staring out the window, watching life go by without her. But when a handsome neighbor (Tom Riley) and his adorable daughter (Samsara Yett) move in across the street, Anna starts to see a light at the end of the tunnel. That is until she witnesses a gruesome murder… Or did she?
From creators Rachel Ramras, Hugh Davidson and Larry Dorf, The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window is a darkly comedic, wine-soaked, satirical slant on the psychological thriller that will have you guessing who, what, where, why and how in the hell?! until the very end.
In addition to Bell, the series stars Michael Ealy, Mary Holland, Shelley Hennig, Cameron Britton, Christina Anthony, and Benjamin Levy Aguilar.
