Well, it looks like Morbius is showing us that not even vampires are immune to COVID-19. Guess all that bloodsucking didn’t help either.

No longer a true poster.

Sony has just announced that Morbius is now experiencing yet more delays in its theatrical release date. You know, because of a certain virus that has now reached the Omicron version? Anyways, this heroic vampire was originally going to make his theatrical debut on January 28, 2022.

Now, the new theatrical release date for Morbius is April 1, 2022: a little over 3 months later. Truth be told, it’s not as bad as it could’ve been, but it could be better, admittedly. Let’s hope that there aren’t any more delays, although that might be a forlorn hope at this point.

Morbius: Details

Venom, is that you? Oh wait, they made that joke already.

Morbius is an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (maybe) superhero (also maybe) film, and also the 3rd film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (definitely). The vampire maybe-hero himself is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name: Morbius, the Living Vampire. The film itself stars Jared Leto as the titular vampire doctor. You know, because all Marvel superheroes need alliterative names. I can tell you more about the plot, but I think I’ll let Sony and their official synopsis explain for me:

“One of the most compelling and conflicted characters in Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?”
