Spider-Man fans are still piling into theaters. Just over a week after its release, No Way Home has officially brought in over $1 billion at the box office worldwide.
The third Tom Holland-fronted Spidey flick already broke records during its opening weekend. The movie earned over $260 million domestically, placing it between previous record-setters Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War as the second-highest domestic opening weekend of all time. Globally, the movie earned $594 million the weekend of December 17.
And now it’s clear Spider-Man: No Way Home was able to keep that momentum going. Following Christmas weekend, the movie has brought in a total of $1.05 billion. That’s already a huge number for any movie. But throw in the fact that No Way Home dropped during a pandemic AND hasn’t yet released in China, the world’s biggest movie market? That’s pretty amazing. (See what I did there?)
Plus, No Way Home didn’t just make a lot of money. It did it fast. It now holds the record for the third-fastest title to hit the $1 billion mark. (Behind – you guessed it – Infinity War and Endgame.)
Spider-Man: No Way Home sees the friendly neighborhood hero (Tom Holland) seek out the assistance of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to magically deal with the exposure of his secret identity. But messing with the multiverse has consequences, and now some familiar villains are back to complicate things…
