It’s been nearly two decades since the last Matrix movie hit the big screen. A lot has happened since then, including the rise of the reboot, a global pandemic, and the creation of HBO Max… All of which led to this moment.
Today, you can stream The Matrix Resurrections on HBO Max.
The newest film in the genre-defining sci-fi series hits streaming the same day as its theatrical release. This is thanks to a pandemic-inspired day-and-date deal with Warner Bros.
Resurrections follows the previous three features in the franchise. (If you recall, main characters Neo and Trinity died in the third film, Revolutions. But hey, that means you already kinda get the title of the newest installment.)
The fourth film sees Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprise their roles as Neo and Trinity, two of only a handful of people who know what we think of as the real world is actually a simulation. The movie also stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Christina Ricci, Telma Hopkins, Eréndira Ibarra, Toby Onwumere, Max Riemelt, Brian J. Smith, and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Throughout 2021, blockbuster features like Godzilla vs. Kong and The Suicide Squad premiered in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously. However, this deal expires in 2021, meaning The Matrix Resurrections will be the last WB movie you can stream as soon as it hits theaters.
