Well, it looks like Sonic is going all out for the holidays for Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Why else would he release a…Yule log video, courtesy of Paramount Pictures? Are you as confused as I am? Then check it out below, and be very confused:
Sonic the Yule Hog?
You can find this rather peculiar Sonic video on YouTube either on Paramount Pictures or on NickRewind. The video itself lasts for an hour and simply depicts Sonic the Hedgehog decorating the room around a fireplace with various Christmas decorations. At decidedly less than supersonic speeds, from the looks of it. If it takes Sonic an hour to decorate a room, he’s definitely going at a fraction of his normal speed. Unless he’s literally running all over the planet to get these Christmas decorations…which wouldn’t be out of character for him.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2: A Reminder
Paramount Pictures would also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is going to come out in theaters soon-ish. Specifically: April 8, 2022. Yeah, that makes this weird Yule Log video a bit early, but hey: better early than late. And judging from the trailer above, the sequel is looking like it might actually be better than the first film. The synopsis from Paramount Pictures only further reinforces this:
“The world’s favorite blue hedgehog is back for a next-level adventure in SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2. After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands. From the filmmakers behind The Fast and the Furious and Deadpool, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 stars James Marsden, Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, and Jim Carrey returning, alongside new additions Shemar Moore, with Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey as the voice of Tails.”
