The upcoming Peacock series, Bel-Air, releases on February 13th, 2022. The upcoming show based on the ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air is a dramatic retelling of the story for a modern era. It stars Jabari Banks, Adrian Holmes, Cassandra Freeman, Olly Sholotan, Coco Jones, Akira Akbar, Jimmy Akingbola, Jordan L. Jones, and Simone Joy Jones. Will Smith is an executive producer on the project directed by Morgan Cooper and with Showrunners T.J. Brady and Rasheed Newson.

The plot description goes like this:

Set in modern-day America, Bel-Air is a serialized one-hour dramatic analogue of the 90’s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” that leans into the original premise: Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. With a reimagined vision, Bel-Air will dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions and biases that were impossible to fully explore in a 30-minute sitcom format, while still delivering swagger and nods to the original show.

They previously released a teaser trailer for the series.

Bel-Air could bring on a new era of updates to ’90s shows like we’ve never seen. The concept is interesting enough, but we’ll have to see if dramatizing a sitcom works in today’s TV market. The original show is such a cherished program for multiple generations of people.

So, what do you think of this new reboot of Bel-Air?
