Well, it looks like Netflix‘s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender is proceeding in leaps and bounds. Already, they have their Azula, Suki, Gran-Gran, and more. I think it’s safe to say that regardless of whether the original creators are on board with this or not, Netflix will go through with it anyways.
Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender ~ Azula Inbound!
Netflix officially announces that they’ve found their voice actresses for several prominent female characters from the original Avatar: The Last Airbender. The total cast of characters includes the infamous Azula above, plus Suki, Avatar Kyoshi herself, and even the ever-reliable Gran Gran.
There’s also a new character for Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender in the form of Yukari. Who is she, you might ask? Well, in this Netflix adaptation, she’s Suki’s mother and the mayor of Kyoshi Island. In retrospect, this does seem like a reasonable character to add. There was no overall leader of Kyoshi Island in the original series, so adding a mayor does seem sensible. I guess we’ll have to see how her character is like when the Netflix series comes out.
