A24 has a sci-fi/kung-fu adventure film in the works, and I have just three words for you: Michelle Yeoh Multiverse.
Yes, someone finally realized the only thing better than a movie with Michelle Yeoh is a movie with many Michelle Yeohs. Everything Everywhere All At Once stars Yeoh as Evelyn Wang, an exhausted Chinese American woman who can’t seem to finish her taxes. Possibly because she’s getting caught up in the whirlwind of a multiverse of other Evelyns.

Generally, a good rule of thumb for A24 films is “expect the unexpected.” And that certainly seems to be the case for this movie. It looks like each of Evelyn’s different lives will prove more fantastic and impossible than the last. From sci-fi futuristic selves to ones from the depths of history, Everything Everywhere All At Once already lives up to its title just based on the trailer alone.
Bringing their odd but charming sensibility to the feature are the experimental directing duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. Collectively known as Daniels, they previously directed 2016’s Swiss Army Man. (And if you’ve seen that movie, you already understand how Daniels can turn the most bizarre elements into a deeply fascinating and funny feature.)
Star Yeoh will be joined by Stephanie Hsu (Shang-Chi), Ke Huy Quan (Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom), James Hong (Blade Runner), Jenny Slate (Obvious Child), and Harry Shum Jr. (Crazy Rich Asians). Jamie Lee Curtis also has a role as some kind of tax bureaucrat embroiled in this multiverse drama.
Everything Everywhere All At Once will premiere at this year’s SXSW festival. It will then debut in theaters March 25.
Until then, you can pick up some googly eyes from the A24 store to hold you over. (Yes, really.)
