Book your rooms for next month, a new Hotel Transylvania is coming. Amazon Prime is bringing Dracula and the gang back for a whole new adventure in Hotel Transylvania: Transformania. And, we get to see a whole new trailer that dropped today!
What to Expect
Back in 2012, the first Hotel Transylvania came on the big screen, introducing us to the monster family. After giving us two more films, now we get to see them in a whole new way. Now, the roles are reversed when Van Helsing, yes THE Van Helsing, invents a new machine. It goes by the “Monsterfication Ray”. The ray turns Johnny into a monster and the monsters into humans. And yes, that means we finally get to see Griffin the invisible man.
As if that is not bad enough, the change can be permanent. They must travel deep into the Amazon for the transformations to be undone. That is where the fun begins. Imagine, a vampire who is used to flying everywhere must now walk like us humans, the horror! Though, that does add to the comedy of it all. Also, seeing Johnny as a monster helps as well
Revamping the Originals
Hotel Transylvania: Transformania has faced a few delays thanks to the pandemic. Originally, the film was going to be a theatrical release but is now coming to the small screen through Amazon Prime. Also, the monsters are not the only ones changing. The franchise creator and previous director of the first three films, Genndy Tartakovsky, will return but as executive producer and screenwriter. That leaves the directing role to Derek Drymon and Jennifer Kluska. Another final change is the voice of Dracula will no longer be Adam Sandler but now it is Brian Hull.
Although one thing that did not change is Selena Gomez returning to reprise her role as Mavis, as well as being an executive producer. Other actors returning are Andy Samberg, Asher Blinkoff, Fran Drescher, Katheryn Hahn, David Spade, Steve Buscemi, and Molly Shannon. Hotel Transylvania: Transformania will come out on January 14, 2022, exclusively on Amazon Prime
