In an Exclusive from DEADLINE, it seems Falcon and the Winter Soldier director, Kari Skogland has found her next project. She will be teaming up with Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot, or should I say Cleopatra…comin’ atcha.

KARI SKOGLAND TO DIRECT CLEOPATRA

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is stepping away from the film and moving into a producing role. Jenkins has chosen to step away so she can concentrate on her next two film projects: Wonder Woman 3 and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. Kari Skogland has a huge directing resume including multiple period pieces such as The Borgias, Boardwalk Empire, and Vikings to name a few. So, the upcoming Cleopatra film is definitely in good hands.

MORE INFORMATION ON THE UPCOMING FILM

Previously, there was controversy over Gadot playing the title role in the upcoming Cleopatra film. However, that hubbub seems to have gone away. Cleopatra was Queen of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt. As well as, a commanding woman versed in politics, diplomacy, and government. There’s a lot of history to follow, but eventually, she married Roman General and Statesman, Mark Antony, who was defeated by Octavian and killed herself after his suicide with poison, not by an asp bite. Contrary to popular belief.

Paramount won the rights to the Cleopatra biological drama film scripted by Laeta Kalogridis. The film is produced by Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven, Jenkins, Gadot, and her Pilot Wave Motion Pictures partner Jaron Varsano. Kalogridis will also Executive producer the film.
