In January 2021 an announcement that Hogwarts Legacy, an upcoming Potterverse action RPG game, would come out until 2022 came out. Afterward, we seemingly got a confirmation of a 2022 release date. Now today, rumor has it, that a new trailer is available.
It was in September 2020 that Hogwarts Legacy was first announced. It is an RPG action game where we can be a part of the magic. In the game, from what we know so far, we will get to be Hogwarts students in the 1800s. We can create our own characters, have them look and sound however we desire, and be able to choose our own Hogwarts House (Hufflepuff it is!). After its initial announcement, in January 2021 Warner Bros announced the game would be delayed. It seems to add more inclusive aspects to counteract Harry Potter’s author J.K. Rowling’s comments made.
Thanks to Millie A, whose tweets typically leak some juicy industry insiders, we now have new information. According to her tweet, a new asset of Hogwarts Legacy is now available. This asset is awaiting approval from WB, who understandably is hesitant. The reason for this is the undoubted backlash that anything Potter-related causes. The studio worries that releasing anything will cause an uproar with the fans, who are still very much upset with the comments the author has made.
We will have to wait and see if the trailer will be shown by Warner Bros or not. The last news received, which was also a rumor, came a few weeks ago. That was a rumor that the release date will come shortly after the release of the upcoming Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore. According to that tidbit, it would be sometime after April when the film is set to be released. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and eyes peeled for these upcoming announcements and new trailers.
Hogwarts Legacy will come out for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox series X.
