In a report by The Disinsider, it appears that Taika Waititi, the madman behind What We Do In The Shadows, Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit, and the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, will lend his manic energy to this upcoming Disney horror-comedy, Tower of Terror. Because, well, it’s hard to imagine Waititi making a film without comedy in it.

Tower of Terror: A New Hope Thanks To Taika Waititi?

Maybe he can do better than the 1993 version? Although that’s a pretty low bar to hurdle.

It’s amazing how quickly this Tower of Terror film’s development is progressing. Not too long ago there was doubt there was that it would ever see the light of day. You know, thanks to the whole debacle involving Scarlett Johansson’s lawsuit against Disney? Johansson is attached as a producer and actress in the film; which put a crimp on production. Thankfully, now that both parties have resolved the lawsuit, the film is now back on track.

Tower of Terror is based on the Walt Disney World Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction. This attraction takes guests into The Twilight Zone with ghosts, and high-speed drops, the thrill attraction became an instant hit! For the film adaption, Josh Cooley (Inside Out, Toy Story 4) will write the script. And the announcement of Waititi directing the film, Tower of Terror breathes some much-needed life back into a project that, at one time, seemed like it was going to keel over. And now, it’s hard to see how Tower of Terror can end up being a mediocre film…ala the 1997 made-for-tv version.
