According to a new report from Cinelinx, “multiple sources” claim that there’s a new Star Wars animated series in the pipeline at Lucasfilm which will feature our tattooed Sith with the double-bladed lightsaber: Darth Maul.
THE STORY ACCORDING TO SOURCES
According to Jordan Maison of Cinelinx article, his first source told him a month ago that Lucasfilm was doing voice recording for an unnamed Star Wars animated series. This same source, as well as a second, mentioned that Dee Bradley Baker (Captain Rex in Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Clone Wars), and Sam Witwer (Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars Rebels) were among the cast. However, the sources didn’t reveal exactly what their voice work was for. Until now.
According to a new pair of independent sources, this new animated Star Wars series will focus on Darth Maul. One of the sources went even further saying that this series will feature Maul’s time before his appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story when he was running his own criminal organization: Crimson Dawn. This same source also revealed that Paul Bettany will reprise his role as Dryden Vos. Which is the icing on the cake if true.
Darth Maul Series: How He Came Back From Being Chopped In Half?
If these rumors are true, then we may finally have the answer to the age-old question, “How did Darth Maul survive being cut in half by a young Obi-Wan Kenobi?” I mean, true, lightsabers do cauterize wounds. However, he still got cut in half. There’s major internal organ damage, not to mention spinal cord damage. That’s not even going into that multi-story fall and the resulting impact. Even if Darth Maul used Force push to negate or at least mitigate the fall damage, that does nothing for the other issues. Unless there was a fully-equipped hospital waiting for him at the bottom of that shaft. I really don’t see how he could’ve survived that.
Keep in mind that it’s still only rumored for now. Take it with a grain of salt until we get official news.
