Tom Hiddleston was the clear headliner guest at MCM Comic Con 2021 at London Excel. Still Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie has a large following of her own judging by the amount of cosplay of the character.
In a packed ICC Auditorium (capacity 4000) Tom Hiddleston was joined by fellow Loki stars Sophia Di Martino and Jonathan Majors. They were introduced to a raucous reception when introduced by panel moderator Claire Lim.
Hiddleston plays Loki and has been a staple of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for over a decade. Sophia Di Martino plays Sylvie while Jonathan Majors plays ‘He Who Remains’.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe
One question posed by the interviewer was how much Sophia and Jonathan were aware of the MCU before joining. Jonathan revealed that he was a fan having watched all the MCU films. Sophia didn’t know much about Marvel films but has quickly come to love the fans.
Tom Hiddleston spoke about some of his most precious moments playing Loki including being at the Avengers Tower. All three actors talked about their passion for acting and how their roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has impacted them. Tom also spoke about the process for planning the Loki show. Sophia spoke about having Sylvie and Loki having different fighting styles.
Jonathan spoke about his process for becoming He Who Remains and that he was inspired by Judy Garland. Interviewer Claire touched on the bromance between Loki and Mobius with Tom speaking about how much he enjoyed working with Owen Wilson.
Hiddleston is known for going the extra mile at conventions and he kept up that tradition with an impromptu extra appearance. With little notice the dozens of attendees cosplaying as Loki variants had the venue of their official meet up changed. The new venue was one of the stages instead of the usual place outside of the venue. As the assorted cosplayers posed for their group shot unbeknownst to them Hiddleston appeared from backstage to photobomb.
You can see his entrance and the reaction of the crowd below.
