What it says in the title: Anakin Skywalker needs to be a part of the Ahsoka series. This is why.

This picture says it all.

Okay, let’s think about what the situation was like for Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano back during the Clone Wars. He was the Jedi Knight, and she was his Padawan. To give you all some background info, in case you have never watched Star Wars for whatever reason, Jedi during those days did not have parents. I mean, they obviously had parents who gave birth to them. However, the official policy of the Jedi Temple was to take all Force-sensitive children away from their parents soon after their birth. Leaving aside the questionable morality of this policy, for now, it effectively meant that the children did not have any direct parental figures to look up to. Not until they were Padawans.

Like father, like daughter.

That’s why Anakin’s relationship with Ahsoka was so important. Anakin was effectively Ahsoka’s father during her apprenticeship to him. He raised her, taught her skills and morality, basically just like any parent. She looked up to him as any child would do under the circumstances. This is why it’s crucial that Anakin be in the Ahsoka series. Regardless of how he turned out, he was still her father. Being such an important part of her life means that he should be part of her story. Not to the extent that he overshadows her, but enough to know how important he was to her. This also means that Obi-Wan Kenobi should be a part of her story too since he was basically her uncle/2nd father figure, but that’s another story for later.

Anakin Skywalker: Flashback or Force Ghost?

Still on the fence about Hayden Christensen replacing Sebastian Shaw.

Now for the real question: how will Anakin Skywalker appear in the Ahsoka series? We already know that Hayden Christensen will reprise his role in the series earlier, but now the question is how? Well, there are really only two logical routes: Anakin appearing in the past in flashbacks or appearing in the present as a Force ghost. There could be wackier routes like nonsense involving Anakin’s clones and whatnot, but without any evidence of that, then let’s just stick with the most likely routes. Now, I will put this out there as well, if you look at the title for the Ahsoka series there are hints of the world between worlds gate as well. Do we see Ahsoka time travel to talk to her old Master?

Personally, I’d be okay with either route or even both. Anakin appearing in flashbacks would firmly establish the father-daughter relationship Ahsoka had with him. However, a Force ghost appearance by Anakin, despite how awkward it’d be, would also allow Ahsoka to gain some closure. Both with his death, and his actions prior to his death. Heck, it could be the closure she’s been waiting forever since she learned that Anakin betrayed the Jedi Order all those years ago. Only time will tell if this is the case.

Conclusion

Anakin Skywalker needs to be a part of the Ahsoka series. He’s too important a figure in Ahsoka Tano‘s life not to be a part of her story. Seriously, she was his Padawan, and he was the Jedi Knight responsible for raising her. Enough said. Fortunately, with Hayden Christensen now officially returning to Star Wars in said series, that’s going to be a certainty. Now let’s just hope he doesn’t end up overshadowing Ahsoka in her own Disney+ series.
