The battle between witches and vampires (and humanity) comes to a head in the third and final season of A Discovery of Witches.

Matthew and Diana return to the present from 1590, but they haven’t let their problems behind. In fact, things have only gotten worse. (Thanks for the gut-punch reminder about Em, season 3 trailer. Now I have to go cry again.)

The trailer teases what’s to come as the magical series races to its final conclusion. The stakes are higher than ever as tensions rise and both creatures and human-kind alike face unprecedented times. And while Diana tries to find the power to save both worlds, she also has more personal matters to contend with. Yup, she’s pregnant with twins. (Who could have guessed 16th century birth control was not up to scratch?)

Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode reprise their roles as Diana and Matthew. The final season also stars Owen Teale, Malin Buska, Alex Kingston, Aiysha Hart, Edward Bluemel, Lindsay Duncan, Peter McDonald, Trevor Eve, Gregg Chillin, Adelle Leonce, Tanya Moodie, Daniel Ezra, Toby Regbo, Steven Cree, Jacob Ifan, Ivanno Jeremiah, Greg McHugh, Olivier Huband, Paul Rhys and Parker Sawyers.

A Discovery of Witches is based on Deborah Harkness’s successful All Souls fantasy trilogy. The final season of the show will adapt the final novel, The Book of Life.

The show airs on Sundance Now, Shudder, and AMC+ in the US. The third and final season will premiere in January 2022.
