It seems Netflix expect great things out of You. Why else would they unveil the 4th season even before they show season 3? They’ve even got a trailer up for season 4 already. Check it out below:

50 Shades of Dexter?

Netflix officially announced their renewal of You for a 4th season with that announcement trailer above. And yes, you’re not imagining things. You season 3 hasn’t even premiered yet, and already, Netflix is already working on the next season after that. However, since the news about season 4 is so new, they don’t even have a casting list or release date for it yet. Which is fair, really. Because, you know, that bit about season 3 and all.

Speaking of season 3, Netflix would also like to take the time to remind everyone that You season 3 will arrive on their streaming platform on Friday, October 15, 2021. As you would expect, the 3rd season is a Netflix exclusive, just like season 4 likely will be. So if you want to watch any seasons of You, be prepared to cough up some cash for a Netflix subscription.

I really hope that’s just velvet cake batter, but I’m probably going to be disappointed.

So what is You all about? Well, the show is based off of the 2014 thriller novel of the same name by Caroline Kepnes. Both versions star a bookstore manager who goes by the name of Joe. Only, Joe is actually a serial killer, and he likes obsessively stalking women he falls in love with before doing the deed. So is he a hero? Not in the slightest. But apparently, people like watching a story about a serial killer protagonist, so yay? The official synopsis from Netflix reveals a bit about what happens to Joe in season 3:

“In Season 3, Joe and Love, now married and raising their baby, have moved to the balmy Northern California enclave of Madre Linda, where they’re surrounded by privileged tech entrepreneurs, judgmental mommy bloggers, and Insta-famous biohackers. Joe is committed to his new role as a husband and dad but fears Love’s lethal impulsiveness. And then there’s his heart. Could the woman he’s been searching for all this time live right next door? Breaking out of a cage in a basement is one thing. But the prison of a picture-perfect marriage to a woman who’s wise to your tricks? Well, that’ll prove a much more complicated escape.”

Netflix renews the thriller/horror series You for a 4th season. Which is a bit bizarre, because season 3 hasn’t come out yet. It’s going to premier soon though on October 15, 2021. If you’re interested in watching a twisted cross of 50 Shades of Gray and Dexter, then check out this Netflix series on, well, Netflix.
