SYFY Channel learned a hard lesson when it let The Expanse go to Amazon Prime Video. Since its continuation on the streaming service, the show’s popularity has skyrocketed. It’s now about to enter its sixth and final season… And we just got an exciting first look at NYCC 2021. The studio also announced the season’s release date at its New York Comic Con panel earlier today.
Here’s the official synopsis for the season:
The sixth and final season of The Expanse picks up with the solar system at war, as Marco Inaros and his Free Navy continue to launch devastating asteroid attacks on Earth and Mars. As the tensions of war and shared loss threaten to pull the crew of the Rocinante apart, Chrisjen Avasarala makes a bold move and sends former Martian Marine Bobbie Draper on a secret mission that could turn the tide of the conflict. Meanwhile, in the Belt, Drummer and what’s left of her family are on the run after betraying Marco. And on a distant planet beyond the Rings, a new power begins to rise.
The Expanse Season 6 Debuts at NYCC 2021
The Expanse series follows the popular science fiction novel series from James S.A. Corey. Season 6 will wrap up the storyline carried through the novels until just before a major time jump in the story. Critics applaud the series for the way in which it tackles some of the “most critical, raw and pressing issues of today.” That it happens to do so with some of the most realistic science fiction on screen is just a bonus.
As we learned at NYCC 2021, The Expanse Season 6 will air on Amazon Prime Video beginning December 10. It’s going to be tough, but Holden, Amos, & Co, will return in just over two months’ time.
