The nation’s top infectious disease expert, Doctor Anthony Fauci is just like you and I. He’s a human being, he has kids, but he also has one of the most important jobs in today’s world. The new documentary coming to Disney+ this October 6th, delivers a look into his private life. The long-standing professional in medicine and now ultimate public servant is facing arguably his toughest test with COVID-19. He became a cultural icon during the course of the pandemic, but that led to a lot of targeted attacks by people divided by political party lines.
He’s the longest-serving public health leader in Washington D.C.. He’s served under seven US presidents in his time. In his 40 years of service, he’s seen outbreaks of HIV/AIDS, SARS, Ebola, Swine Flu, and now COVID-19. It’s directed by John Hoffman and Janet Tobias. The film features insights from former President George W. Bush, Bill Gates, Bono, former national security advisor Susan Rice, National Institutes of Health director Dr. Francis Collins, former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Dr. Tom Frieden, journalists Laurie Garrett and The New York Times’ Apoorva Mandavilli, and key AIDS activists, among others. Dr. Fauci’s family, friends and former patients also provide more personal commentary about the man, his personality, and what makes him who he is.
You can check out the documentary on Disney+ this October 6th.
