Grab your magnifying glass and double your (already doubled) dose of Tony Hale. The Mysterious Benedict Society will officially return for a second season!
Based on the best-selling YA book series by Trenton Lee Stewart, the Disney+ series follows four gifted orphans recruited by the mysterious Mr. Benedict.
You can see Hale reveal the news via a little riddle in the clip below.
“This show has been an absolute thrill to work on and I’m so thankful to the fans and Disney for the opportunity to keep telling this incredible story,” said Hale.
Season 2 of The Mysterious Benedict Society will pick up one year after the society’s first mission. After foiling the nefarious Mr. Curtain’s Emergency in season 1, the kids will embark on a new perilous journey to stop Mr. Curtain as he shifts to a new strategy with global implications.
The series comes from creators/writers Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay and showrunners Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavin.
“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to continue our journey into Trenton Lee Stewart’s witty, warm and wonderful world in a second season of The Mysterious Benedict Society,” the creative team said in a joint statement. “This has already been such a special experience, thanks to our remarkable cast and collaborators. The belief that 20th Television and Disney+ have shown in our show and their commitment to its values of kindness, empathy and the celebration of different ways of being make this all very much a joy.”
Production on season 2 will begin in early 2022. The first season of The Mysterious Benedict Society is available to stream now on Disney+.
