It’s been a while since we’ve heard any new details about the upcoming Kenobi series on Disney+. The series sees the return of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen to their roles from the prequel trilogy. It also sees the Star Wars debut of Sung Kang. In an interview with the actor for F9, Screen Rant pressed him on his role for the upcoming Star Wars series.
I used to dress up in the cheap K-mart plastic Halloween costumes, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, almost every single day from 8 to 13 years old. My friends and I would play pretend, we would make our own lightsabers out of toilet paper centers and stuff like that and paper towel cardboard, and to be able to be on set and see Darth Vader and see the Star Wars Universe in front of me, I mean — just as a fan to be able to be part of that history is pretty amazing. I kept pinching myself to go, ‘How did I end up here?’ and, my character has a lightsaber, to go, ‘What? This is.. It’s not a toy. It’s actually the real thing, right?’ so pretty cool.

Who Could He Be? A Sith? A Jedi?
The rumor is that Kang is playing the Fifth Brother of the Inquisitors. His character hasn’t been confirmed yet, so while this headline and news would normally seem rather silly, it tells us a lot about what he could be playing in the show. The series takes place after Revenge of the Sith but before A New Hope, so there’s some Jedi-hunting possibilities here. Or Kang could be playing a Jedi that’s in hiding after Order 66.
It recently wrapped filming in August, so we should expect the show sometime in 2022. We’ll know more when Disney does their D23 event in November. The show also features Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, Maya Erskine, and Moses Ingram. We’ll have to keep you updated on this as it develops. But That Hashtag Show will have the details first thing they come out.
So, who do you think Sung Kang is playing in the show?
