This is the way… to celebrate Thanksgiving!

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has been a staple of the holiday for nearly 100 years. During that time, plenty of fictional characters have flown in the sky to celebrate, from Snoopy to Spongebob. But the parade has never featured a Star Wars balloon before.

Thankfully, that oversight will end in 2021. Grogu (aka Baby Yoda) will make history as the first Star Wars character to fly the skies during the Macy’s Parade. No longer tiny – but no less adorable – balloon Baby Yoda will measure 41 feet high, 29 feet long, and 37 feet wide.

The balloon will specifically take visual inspiration from the Funko version of the character, which you can see in the mock-up below.

“It’s always fun working with Funko and bringing Star Wars to fans, but this time, the fun and the unique challenges were supersized,” says Brian Merten, senior manager of product design at Lucasfilm. “Bringing Grogu to life as a 37-foot-wide balloon was no small feat and took close collaboration with the Funko design team, as well as the balloon designers from Macy’s. I am very happy with the result and can’t wait to see it in the parade!”

And if you can’t wait to get your hands on more Mandalorian merch… Yes, the Funko-Grogu balloon will also be re-Funko-fied into a Pop! figure. In fact, there’s a whole collection featuring bobbleheads, keychains, apparel and more. The limited-edition Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Grogu will be available exclusively at Funko.com.

So this Thanksgiving, keep your eyes on the sky – er, your TV, anyways – to see Baby Yoda soaring the skies. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade runs 9am – noon in all timezones, and airs on NBC.
