Hello everyone, your friendly neighborhood Professor Hulk here. I’m about to drop some knowledge on some exciting stuff going on in the film and TV world. Last week we shared with you details on Deathstroke. This week, we’re talking about Blue Beetle.
As many no doubt already know, Warner Bros. has officially begun work on a Blue Beetle film for HBO Max. This film will star Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai, Parenthood) as Jaime Reyes. Angel Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings) will direct a script by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Miss Bala).
While plot details are currently not publicly known, we can exclusively share details of the film including some characters that will be in the movie as well as villain information.
How Many Versions Of Blue Beetle?
We can exclusively share that there will be two Blue Beetles in the film. The film will focus on Jamie Reyes and his origin, but it will also include Ted Kord who will act as a mentor to Reyes. Think similarly to the relationship that Hank Pym and Scott Lang shared in the Ant-Man films. Currently, there is no actor attached to the role of Kord.
We can also exclusively share that the villains will be none other than The Reach. The Reach is a group of cybernetic insectoid aliens who in the comics are closely associated with the creation of the Blue Beetles. So their inclusion points to an origin story of sorts for the Blue Beetles.
No other details regarding the film are known at this time, but as we get further into production expect an announcement of Ted Kord’s casting to be made. We can also expect some new details about DC‘s film slate at the upcoming DC Fandome.
