Can we just go ahead and give the Halloween crown to the duo of Mike Flanagan and Netflix? The team behind The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor is back this year with an all-new series for the season.
Be not afraid… Midnight Mass debuts soon.
Check out the official trailer for the series released today by Netflix below:
Set to an absolutely haunting cover of “Somewhere Only We Know,” even just this two-minute glimpse into Midnight Mass screams this is definitely a show people will be talking about. Flanagan’s work on the Haunting series stands out not just for its ability to craft a scary story, but for the way the shows handle the drama and nuance of family. It looks like fans can expect the same dovetail of haunts and humanity in Midnight Mass.
The upcoming Netflix series tells the tale of a small, isolated island community whose existing divisions are amplified by the return of a disgraced young man (Zach Gilford) and the arrival of a charismatic priest (Hamish Linklater). When Father Paul’s appearance on Crockett Island coincides with unexplained and seemingly miraculous events, a renewed religious fervor takes hold of the community – but do these miracles come at a price?
The seven-episode limited series also stars Kate Siegel, Rahul Abburi, Crystal Balint, Matt Biedel, Alex Essoe, Annarah Cymone, Annabeth Gish, Rahul Kohli, Kristin Lehman, Robert Longstreet, Igby Rigney, Samantha Sloyan, Henry Thomas, and Michael Trucco. (Yes, you’ll recognize quite a few of those names from Hill House and Bly Manor.)
Midnight Mass premieres on Netflix September 24.
