We’re just over a month out from the first Critical Role graphic novel releasing from Dark Horse Comics. And recently the team over at Polygon revealed Book #4 in the series, focusing on one character in particular.
This is one I’m super excited about because we are getting a better understanding of the life of Nott The Brave pre-meeting The Mighty Nein, and how just one decision changed everything for her. The book’s official description says:
Veth Brenatto doesn’t have an exciting life, but she likes it that way. Unlike her childhood, it’s safe. Predictable. And her husband and son love her as fiercely as she loves them. But Veth’s cozy existence is turned on its head when she and her family are captured by raiders. In order to save them, Veth will commit an atrocity that will sever her from all that she loves — maybe forever — and lead her to become Nott the Brave of the Mighty Nein.
This story has been written by Sam Maggs who wrote on Captain Marvel, The Unstoppable Wasp, and wrote on Jester’s Mighty Nein Origins graphic novel. Sam also worked on the story in collaboration with CR‘s Dungeon Master Matt Mercer and CR cast member Sam Riegel, who portrayed the character on the show. As far as art goes, William Kirkby, who has worked on both Rat Queens and Regular Show is doing the art for this book. Meanwhile, Mildred Lewis, who has worked on Agents Of The Realm and Invader Zim is handing the coloring for this book.
The cover was also revealed, which you can check out below:
