Sylvester Stallone has been teasing it for a long time, but now it looks like The Expendables 4 is on its way. The new fourth installment in the “best-of” action series is bringing along Tony Jaa, Megan Fox, and 50 Cent to the cast. In addition to them, returning for the movie are Stallone, Jason Statham, Randy Couture, and Dolph Lundgren. The first three films brought together the stars of the 80’s and 90’s. They featured stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Antonio Banderas, Wesley Snipes, Harrison Ford, and Mel Gibson.
The action pedigree of Tony Jaa can’t be denied. He might not be the biggest household name here in the West, but his films overseas are fantastic. Megan Fox is also a seasoned vet of action films like Transformers. It’s about time that the Expendables franchise brings on some female action stars. Finally rounding out the newcomers is Curtis Jackson, other known as 50 Cent. He doesn’t have the action pedigree of the other two additions, but he’s got some roles in action movies here and there. It’ll be interesting to see how these three fit into a new team of Expendables.
Production on the fourth film starts this Fall. It doesn’t currently have a release date according to the studio, Lionsgate. It remains to be seen who else will join the cast. Obviously being a sequel to a highly successful action movie, they’ve got to up the stakes a bit. Does that mean we see more of the old guard of action or maybe some new blood here for The Expendables 4. We’ll keep you updated on this movie and the cast as the story develops.
