Love it or hate it, Solo: A Star Wars Story lives on. And now, fans will get the chance to dive deeper into the lore of one of the main characters in Crimson Reign.
No, this isn’t about Han. We’re talking about Qi’ra, the character played by Emilia Clarke in the movie. So if you want to find out more about Qi’ra’s involvement in the Crimson Dawn crime syndicate, you’ll want to check out Charles Soule’s upcoming comic series.
The five-issue Crimson Reign series will continue the arc that began in War of the Bounty Hunters. And according to Soule, it will “reshape the history of the Star Wars Galaxy during the Age of Rebellion.”
During an interview with IGN, Soule described how the plan for Crimson Reign first developed.
“I planned to tell the story we’re seeing in War of the Bounty Hunters from the very first pitches I wrote when I knew I’d be taking over the Star Wars title for Marvel,” Soule said. “But it was really when I knew I had a secret weapon to deploy storywise that the seeds of Crimson Reign began to take root in my mind: Qi’ra, former paramour of Han Solo and current leader of the infamous Crimson Dawn crime syndicate, as portrayed by Emilia Clarke in Solo: A Star Wars Story film.”
Though Qi’ra plays a part in War of the Bounty Hunters, it’s definitely a Boba Fett story at its core. But Soule teased that fans will get a better idea of what’s to come in Crimson Reign in the final issue of Bounty Hunters debuting this fall.
“I have a bigger story I’m going to tell with Qi’ra and Crimson Dawn, and it’s all connected to the reasons she kicked things off in War of the Bounty Hunters in the first place. You’ll learn more about that in the closing pages of War of the Bounty Hunters #5, out in October, and I think fans have no idea how exciting and new this story will feel,” said Soule.
The series will debut in November, with plans for a five-issue run. Soule writes all five issues, with art by Steve Cummings.
