The Icon is coming back to TNT for another match. The last time he was on the network for a match was the last episode of Monday Night Nitro. This time around he’ll be teaming with Darby Allin against the team of Matt Lee and Jeff Parker, 2point0. Sting is making his first appearance after starting his AEW career off at 2-0 against Brian Cage and Ricky Starks, and his other match against Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page. Their match is a Tornado Tag match that brings Sting back onto our TV sets for a TV match.
AEW is already hot off the heels of AEW: Rampage where Christian Cage defeated Kenny Omega for the TNA and IMPACT World Championships and Britt Baker defended her AEW Women’s Championship against Red Velvet in the main event. This week’s Dynamite continues the momentum with great matches. The Young Bucks take on Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus of Jurassic Express for the AEW Tag Team Titles among other matches on the stacked card.
Tony Khan, AEW CEO, GM, and Head of Creative had this to say about Sting:
When we first launched AEW, I was ecstatic to bring professional wrestling back to TNT after such a long absence. So many wrestling fans, myself included, watched Sting defeat the legendary Ric Flair 20 years ago in that last match on TNT, and now it’s such a thrill that Sting will finally return to the ring on Wednesday Night Dynamite to team with Darby Allin against 2point0 in a Texas Tornado Tag Team Match. This historic match on Wednesday in Houston is just another example of AEW’s commitment to bring wrestling fans the great moments that they deserve.
